"This lithograph is one in a series of six Lincoln cartoon prints. This print depicts Abraham Lincoln sitting on the ground, his long legs and large feet spread out before him. The words "Military Necessity" are written on the soles of both shoes and "Constitution, Habeas Corpus" are written underneath him. Text filling the top of the composition reads, "Melancholy Accident to a gentleman in high life." A cartoon bubble leaving Lincoln's mouth reads, "What? Tumbled over them! On'y Straws! in them boots? Them's good boots, lasted high into 4 year and done good service too- 'Pears like there' ginin out fust." The print is again titled across the bottom margin.
